Tour KCLV and Learn How
the City of Las Vegas Works Social Media Magic

 This will be a special free SCAN NATOA get together (NATOA and COMET members welcome).  We will arrange to meet on the floor of NAB early on April 18 and have engineer Darren Doerschel show the group the latest and greatest PEG equipment.  After, we'll head over to tour the KCLV High Definition studio!  They’ve been cablecasting in HD on CenturyLink since 2012 (and in SD on Cox).  How are your social media skills?  Do you have what it takes to get the hits and likes?  The City of Las Vegas has put together an awesome team that gets videos seen around the world.  Find out what you can do to take that magic back to your city, county or agency.

Driving from the Las Vegas Convention Center:  Drive north on Paradise until you reach the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd. and Main Street.  Cross over LV Blvd. and continue north on Main Street, then turn left at Clark into the City’s 5 story parking garage at 500 S. Main Street (x Clark Ave.).  Bring your ticket with you to KCLV for validation. 2-hour validation available when you parking in our City garage.

Taking the bus:  Jump on SDX Strip & Downtown Express heading north.  From the L.V. Convention Center you’ll get off at the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC) which is only 4 stops away.  Then walk one block north on 1st Street to City Hall.

A PRIMER ON WIRELESS SHOT CLOCKS -

AB 57 AND SECTION 6409(a)

 

Please join us for a SCAN chapter meeting, being held in Southern California and Northern California locations, to hear about the wireless “shot clocks” and the “deemed granted” processes imposed on California local governments through the FCC’s 2009 and 2014 rulings, AB 57 (which becomes effective 1/1/16), and Section 6409.  This series of legal requirements, taken together, encourages the expansion of wireless networks, but at what cost to local governments?  What changes to the processing of cell phone antennas and towers should be considered?  Confirmed speakers include:

CALVACADE OF CONTENT

 Programmers! Our Calvacade of Content workshop is a time for us to gather and share programming, to see and learn how others are putting together their most successful shows. Get ideas for programs, and learn about the logistics and resources different programs take. We will also be touring Torrance CitiCABLE's studio that has a new studio remote controlled camera system and new set. If you would like to share your program, please contact Robin Gee at robinfgee@yahoo.com to coordinate your presentation.
