1980's - 1992
Prior to SCAN NATOA becoming a Chapter complete with by-laws, an ad-hoc committee was formed in the late 1980's to plan occasional meetings, raise money for local hosting responsibilities associated with the 1991 NATOA conference held in Anaheim, and work with the staff at NATOA on various issues.  The committee was comprised of the following Telecommunications Officers and Advisors:
Larry Bender, Warren Carter, Susan Herman, Jonathan Kramer, John Risk, Wally Siembab

1992 - 1996
In 1992, the committee asked four people to help form an official chapter and serve as the initial officers.  The chapter was known as SoCal NATOA. The initial Board developed the by-laws, conducted quarterly meetings, and started a newsletter that went to all NATOA members in California.   The first board consisted of:
President - Brenda Trainor
Vice President - Kathy Moore
Treasurer - Rod Foster
Secretary - Howard Crisp

1996 - 1997
The first Board remained in office until 1996 when the Board was expanded, and the by-laws were changed to include a name change from the "Southern California Chapter" of NATOA to the "Southern California and Nevada Chapter," and the annual rotation of officers.
